AGM

As you are aware t\he AGM is being held on Sunday 26th June 2022 @ 10.30am. Nominations have now closed for all positions and the list of nominees will be on the Noticeboard both in the Clubrooms and Match Committee rooms.

Social Bowls

It appears that for the most part many of our bowlers have gone into hibernation over the cold winter months! Numbers for both Tuesday and Saturday games have been very low. For those who do attend, we have a great day. The competition, whist “intense”, is also a lot of fun. We have some very serious bowlers and some who are there to socialize and maybe have a win. We would love to see more attend!

Social Events

The next social event is the Trivia Day on Sunday 19th June 2022 @ 1.00pm. At the moment we have six tables booked, but would love to see more (either let Julie Harrison know, or just turn up – all will be welcome!). It is a fun/serious day and also a great way to “get out of the house”. The questions can be “testing” or can be fun. Either way, it is a fun day to shake off the winter blues. Cost is $10 per person, bring your own nibbles and have a laugh. Afternoon tea will also be served.

Xmas In July is always a highlight in our calender. It is being held on Saturday 30th July 2022. Cost is $30 per person. This year it is in memory of Maggie, who always ensured the night was filled with the Christmas spirit. Please write your name on the list found on the Events Notice Board.

Whilst not a Belvedere Bowls function, the Frankston Ladies Choir are having a Cabaret Concert on Saturday 10th September @ 7-11pm. Cost is $25 per person. We have been assured of a great night’s entertainment, including the Choir, the Black Forest Band and dancing. Bring nibbles and dips. This event is a fund raiser concert for Dementia Australia. All proceeds are for this worthy charity, so please support.

The Social Committee are working together to ensure we have ongoing functions during the year, so please support them. The more we have attend functions only encourages them to arrange bigger and better things for us to do.

Pennant

The lists for Saturday and Tuesday is on clipboards located in the Match Committee room. Please  write your name on the lists to ensure the club has as many bowlers available as possible for the new Pennant season.

We have some great nominations for Selection Committee this year and at the AGM a BIG announcement will be made!

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the planned Sizzle for 12th June. However, we need your help to run the Sizzle on 3rd July 2022. These days are a great way to raise much needed funds for the club, so your help is greatly appreciated. There are a number of people already “signed up”, but we still need more, so PLEASE check the Events Noticeboard and add your name to the list.

Thank You

This year (2021-2022) has been a difficult year, not only for the World, but for our Club. We have not had a full year of operation due to COVID restrictions and of course the limited use of our clubrooms due to the upgrades. As a result, our functions and fund raising have been greatly affected.

However, once we had the “all clear” to enter the clubrooms we worked hard to arrange Barefoot Bowls and have been lucky enough to have groups hiring our hall for other functions as well.

The Barefoot Bowls before and after Xmas all went well. We had more functions than we thought we would. This was due mostly to the volunteers distributing our new Brochures to businesses in and around our club. The response was amazing and our members were busy catering for the bowlers needs (boy can they eat and drink!).

A huge thank you to Carol Dixon for her hard work behind the scenes to ensure these functions had enough volunteers and ran seamlessly.

We also had the Frankston Ladies Choir, Darts and Frankston North Rotary groups using the clubrooms on a regular basis. All these groups will be continuing to use our Clubrooms and we welcome them!

I would personally like to thank ALL the volunteers who helped to ensure these functions, be it Barefoot Bowls, the Choir, Darts, Rotary or other functions were a success. It takes a lot of hard work to ensure the success of any function. Volunteering is not always easy and you may feel you can only help “so much”, but believe me anytime you do help it is greatly appreciated.

A Club cannot survive without its Volunteers. We are a Bowling Club first and foremost, but without functions (either internal or outside groups) we cannot survive. Functions help raise much needed funds to ensure we can continue to exist.

Volunteers and word of mouth are key to ensuring we continue to run great functions. Remember, if groups come into our club and have a great experience, they are either going to come back (which is hoped they will!) or, more importantly spread the word to friends and family to have their function at our great clubrooms.
